Making a difference
As always with Genuine Solutions, we put charity and community support at the heart of what we do. One of our core values is Responsible – we believe that we cannot be successful if we do not care about the environment and the communities around us. Another core value is Supportive and so this leads us to think of others who are not as fortunate ourselves.
So every two years, we ask our people to select new charities and together we build a two-year programme of support. We benefit from learning about some inspiring causes and knowing we can help make a difference and the charities benefit from our fundraising and promotional support which spans across our people, our customers, our suppliers and partners.
We’ve had the most amazing year in 2017, our people took part in some life changing events and had loads of Fun on the way. Many of the team stretched themselves beyond their expectations and have been inspired by the causes that our charity partners are working on. Our customers too have been supportive as ever and we look forward to sharing more great fundraising initiatives with them in the future.
Our new line up of charities for 2018 – 2020 is an exciting mix of partners and a perfect blend of major global health issues and some local heroes. This year we have two environmental projects – something which resonates with our vision to be the world’s leading provider of ethical technology. So we welcome all of these amazing organisations to the Genuine Solutions family. They’ve provided a fresh injection of fundraising inspiration driving us all on to do so much more.
Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK, with more than 850,000 people living with the condition rising to an estimated 1 million by 2025. The effect on the person with dementia and on their relatives, friends and colleagues can be devastating and there is often little help or advice available. Many carers find it a grinding, stressful, twenty-four-hour role trying to keep loved ones safe and comfortable. Your help is more important than ever.
Momentum Children's Charity
Christmas time can be especially tough for families who have a child with cancer or life-challenging condition. Many children spend the entire festive season in hospital. Momentum Children’s Charity offers a unique support programme at home and in hospital, which includes therapy services, counselling, holidays, experiences and children’s ward refurbishments.
British Heart Foundation
The British Heart Foundation raise money to fund research into heart and circulatory diseases and their risk factors. We have been funding research to keep hearts beating and blood flowing for over 50 years. In that time, the annual number of deaths from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK has fallen by more than half. But 1 in 4 people in the UK still die from heart and circulatory diseases. We want to change that for good. But we need your help.
Wildlife Aid Foundation
The Wildlife Aid Foundation is dedicated to the rescue, care and rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals. Established in 1980, the charity’s veterinary wildlife hospital in Surrey deals with more than 20,000 wildlife emergencies every year. Their aim is to return every patient to the wild once they have recovered. The Foundation’s work was the focus of the popular TV series Wildlife SOS on Discovery Channel’s ‘Animal Planet‘ and has now features on the worldwide platform, YouTube.
We are drowning in plastic, putting wildlife at risk and losing valuable green space. Thames21 finds solutions to these problems by connecting people with waterways and putting healthy rivers back at the heart of everyday life. We restore rivers, educate the community and campaign for positive change. We monitor water quality, restore habitats and empower people through outdoor learning sessions and river stewardship. Help us preserve our waterways and wildlife for future generations.
Look out for some crazy activities over the next two-year programme including helping endangered wildlife, cleaning out rivers to brightening children’s hospital wards, disco dancing marathons and even running around the Tower of London! And, as is our tradition, we will be pushing forward on our Christmas community support programme which aims to give a little extra to the community at a special time of giving and caring about others.
If you have any questions relating to how you can help us support these charities or you have a community project you would like to be included in our Christmas community support, please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org.
